All literature enthusiasts – with or without formal qualifications – are welcome to join ULEMLA and/or attend meetings. Our name is pronounced “you-LEM-lah”. To find out why our literature association is known as ULEMLA, please go to the “About” tab above. Annual membership is £20 for seven talks as well as a discount on the price of the Christmas party and literary trip in May. Should you prefer to attend only occasional talks, however, the charge to non-members is £5 per talk.
We hope that you find all the other information you need from our website but, should you want more details or additional information added to the website, please don’t hesitate to contact me (email@example.com).
The programme for the 2015-16 academic year has now been posted. As all ULEMLA committee members are volunteers, we haven’t any staff who manage the website. Consequently, any comments not sent by e-mail to me might not be seen and responded to as quickly as you would like. Please, therefore, always e-mail me if you have any queries or comments.
On the website you will find information on past speakers, topics and literary trip-venues as well as the current academic year’s programme. Over the years of ULEMLA‘s existence, our Bookings Secretary has discovered that the best speakers cannot always commit themselves to giving a talk a whole academic year ahead. Therefore, the autumn and spring term speakers are booked during the previous summer and, generally, speakers for the next April and June are booked as the current autumn term progresses.
Should you be interested in becoming a member of ULEMLA, please come along to our meetings this year. I and my Committee colleagues welcome feedback on, and suggestions for, the Programme at any time. If you are a member we urge you to promote the Association and its Programme to your friends and colleagues and please remember that no connection with the University is necessary for membership.
ULEMLA‘s committee and membership hope that you enjoy your visit to this website, and we look forward to seeing you – and any of your friends with literary interests – at our meetings.
Lindsay Martin, ULEMLA Chair
